G8Online

Methodology

This page describes how G8 Online collects, verifies and publishes data on international institutions and global governance. Our goal is to provide accurate, well-sourced and regularly updated information for journalists, researchers and policy analysts.

Data Sources

G8 Online relies on two categories of sources:

Primary sources include official treaties, charters, UN resolutions, government press releases, summit communiqués and institutional declarations. For dataset entries, we link directly to the original document whenever possible.

Secondary sources include established news agencies and publications: Reuters, Associated Press, BBC, Al Jazeera, Financial Times, Bloomberg and Le Monde. We use secondary sources to confirm dates, quotes and contextual details.

Verification Process

Every factual claim in our datasets and reports is cross-checked against at least two independent sources. Dates are verified against official records. Contribution figures are confirmed through government statements or audited financial disclosures.

When sources conflict, we note the discrepancy and cite both. We do not publish unverified claims, even from reputable sources, without clearly labelling them as unconfirmed.

Update Policy

Tracker datasets (such as the Board of Peace Countries Tracker) are updated within 48 hours of a significant event — a new member joining, a country changing status, or a funding pledge being revised.

Static datasets and reports are reviewed at least annually. Every data page displays a "Last updated" date and version number so readers can assess currency.

Editorial Independence

G8 Online is not affiliated with any government, political party, international organisation or commercial entity. Our analysis reflects independent editorial judgement. We do not accept sponsored content or paid placements in our datasets or reports.

Corrections Policy

Factual errors can be reported via our contact page. We are committed to correcting confirmed errors within 24 hours of notification. All corrections are documented in the changelog of the affected dataset or report.
